JEE Main 2014 Cutoff is the minimum score which must be obtained in entrance exam by any exam participant in order to qualify the exam and to become eligible for admission process. This score is decided by the Governing Bodies of Joint Entrance Examination Board. Various factors such as number of candidates, annual intake of students, and difficulty level of questions in exam and admission cutoffs for last years are considered in making the calculation.
JEE Main 2014 Cut Off will be announced before the admissions in all the colleges has started. This will be made available after every round of admission. As soon as the cutoffs for every round are declared, it will be made available for all the exam takers. The ranks which are secured by a candidate corresponding to JEE Main 2014 Cutoff will be called as cutoff rank and; this rank will be the last rank in final merit list.
As far as Cut Off is concerned, only the exam takers of both JEE Main and JEE Advanced will be considered for cutoff generation. Others who have not taken both JEE Main as well as JEE Advanced will not be considered. The marks obtained by a candidate in Paper 1 and Paper 2 will be summed up to generate the aggregate marks. There will be separate merit lists for the candidates of Non Creamy Layer OBC, ST and SC. JEE Main 2014 Cutoff Marks for NCL – OBC will be 9% in each subject and 31.5% in aggregate and for SC and ST will be 5% in each subject and 17.5% in aggregate. PD Candidates of OBC (NCL), ST, GEN and SC categories will again have a separate merit list. JEE Advanced 2014 Cutoff for these candidates will be 17% in aggregate and 5% in each subject.
In another case, if the number of candidates in the merit lists of SC/ST/PD is lesser than 1.4 times the total number of seats for each category, the authorities will generate separate merit lists in for the Preparatory Course. The JEE Advanced 2014 Cutoff for this list will be 2.5% in each subject and 8.75% in aggregate.
The cutoffs for various years remain approximately the same till there is no major change in the exam pattern and syllabus. Hence, the candidates can also refer to last year’s cutoffs to assess their admission probability. Apart from the exam level cutoffs, all the institutes will fix cutoffs for admissions in various courses under JEE. The colleges will decide the ranks and marks for admissions in various courses for all the exam takers and will release the lists for every round of admissions accordingly. It is decided according to merit, reservations, and candidate intake and admission standards. The candidates who qualify JEE Main 2014 Cut Off requirement will be given admission in various colleges and, rest will not be considered.
